As of the summer of 2007, the only court reporting program in Connecticut is offered at Lincoln College of New England (formerly Briarwood College). Located in Southington, Connecticut, Lincoln College of New England offers an 18-month, non-degree court reporting program. The course of study includes basic shorthand theory, punctuation and grammar for court reporting, transcription, speed development, computerized transcription, legal and medical terminology, courtroom procedures, and an internship. Day and evening classes are available and are held Monday through Friday. New programs begin in April and October.

Upon completion of your court reporting training, in order to work as a freelance reporter in the state of Connecticut, you will need to obtain a license through the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.
